Like any person with a shred of sanity, I love a good steak. For me, medium rare is perfect and is best served with potatoes, a green veg and my steak sauce. Like a lot of my recipes, it’s based on what my mum used to make when I was little.
The sauce is simple to make and comes together at the end while your steak is resting. Slice some onion and mushroom and throw in the frying pan that you cooked the steak in and cook until the onions are soft. They and the mushrooms will absorb all the meat juices from the steak. Throw in a splash of cream (or half a tub if you’re making enough for two), plenty of seasoning and half a teaspoon ish of wholegrain mustard.
Voila! Perfectly flavoured and delicious steak sauce.
