Smoked haddock with mash and cheese sauce

This isn’t the post I was intending to write today. I was hoping to tell you all about the best chilli I’ve ever tasted – it was a recipe from Gizzi Erskine’s  ‘Gizzi’s Kitchen Magic‘ but was featured in Delicious Magazine recently. I went to get the recipe that I’d cut out to post about it and realised that I’ve LOST HALF OF IT. Which means that unless I buy the book  it’s from, not only will I not be posting about it, but I’ll never be cooking it again! I’m going to have another look for it in the morning and then resign myself to paying £15 for the book. Well, if her other recipes are as good as her chilli, then it will be worth it!

For now though, I’ll have to post about another recent meal. Just as comforting, but completely different.

Smoked haddock and chive mash, with mustard cheese sauce.

I love a bit of smoked fish, and it goes especially well with mashed potato for that wintery comfort food feeling. The sauce was made with the milk that I poached the fish in, so was full of flavour as it also contained grated cheddar and wholegrain mustard. Smoked fish is obviously quite strong so can really stand up next to a well flavoured sauce. Lovely!
